Dick Wolf's Chicago P.D. will be back for an eleventh season, alongside fellow One Chicago shows Chicago Med (which will be back for its ninth season) and Chicago Fire (which will be back for its twelfth). The drama never stops in Chicago. But it does pause sometimes — this fall, the franchise took an extra-long break while actors and writers were on strike for fair wages. Now that the writers strike is resolved and the actors strike is tentatively over too, it's finally time to put down the deep dish pizza and get back to something even better: watching Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. Season 11 latest news

We have a new season premiere date. Following the tentative end to the actors strike, NBC has released its midseason premiere calendar, and it's safe to say the network is not wasting any time. Chicago P.D. returns for Season 11 on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 10/9c. It follows the other One Chicago shows, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., which also debut their new seasons that night.

Chicago P.D. Season 11 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 10/9c on NBC. The One Chicago shows are targeting 13 episodes for their upcoming seasons, according to TV Line.

What will Chicago P.D. Season 11 be about?

There have been no announcements about what viewers can expect to see happen in Chicago P.D. Season 11. We know the officers will continue to fight crime and find justice for the residents of Chicago. We can also probably expect to see more of the romance between Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). 

Since Jesse Lee Soffer, who played Senior Detective Jay Halstead, left Chicago P.D. in Season 10, we will also see how everyone in the precinct continues to deal with his absence — including Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), now that their marriage is seemingly over. 

Spiridakos will be leaving the series at the conclusion of Season 11, according to Variety. The actress joined Chicago P.D. in Season 4 as a recurring character and was made a regular cast member in Season 5. It is unclear how many episodes she'll appear in when the procedural returns, and it is unknown if this was a creative decision or something else.

Aside from Jesse Lee Soffer, the rest of the talent who play Chicago P.D.'s men and women in blue are expected to be back for Season 11. Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Hailey Upton, will be leaving the series after the season.
